A warning against perfectionism
refusal to accept any standard short of perfection.
Certainly believers are called to strive for perfection:
"All the faithful of Christ of whatever rank or status, are called to the fullness of the Christian life and to the perfection of charity."
(Lumen Gentium, section 40)
However, in my, Dan Popovich's humble opinion:
We are only able to achieve such perfection of charity because Our Lord and Master loves and accepts us first, here and right now as we are yet sinners and perhaps highly imperfect.
By this most Real and Initial Love and Acceptance, where we are at right now, do we find the grace to act likewise toward our God, our neighbors and ourselves as we are commanded to by the Golden Rule.
