"Prosperity Gospel" and worldly gain... I hope not.

I was just reading something by St. Augustine warning about shepherds that neglect to prepare their sheep for the temptations that will come at some point in their faith journeys and he particularly mentions that danger of promising worldly prosperity to followers of Christ I presume.

I'm not going to put words in the mouth of such a great saint as St. Augustine but I will offer my humble take on praying for good things.

There is an old saying, perhaps biblical, that says what good would it do to gain the whole world and lose my soul in the end in the process.

Believe me you don't want to go there. I have experienced being trapped by sin and suffering for my moral failings even here in this lifetime. Horrible experience. Makes me pray right now for the inestimable value of preparing for the day of judgement that we all must face at some point in our lives.

Prepare how? By living lives of faith, hope and above all CHARITY as followers of Christ.

Not really. The Golden Rule is pretty straightforward. Love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love you neighbor like yourself.

You'll have to do a little work and pray to understand what this "greatest commandment" actually means and how it should affect how we live our lives in this fallen (yet redeemed) world.

I pray like that every day. "Lord teach me what it means to follow You with all my heart, mind and soul."

Oh what a dreadful day awaits those that live unrepentantly in mortal sin. Dear One You have shown me that it is not worth all the prosperity that might be gained by abandoning the Gospel. You know what we need before we even ask.

Help us to trust You this day to lead us and guide us to our heavenly home, Your Kingdom, here on earth as it is in heaven.

Have a wonder-ful day.

What does Christmas mean to me this year?

I know what everybody is saying (and I get it believe me)... 2020 has been a "year from hell" for most people. What is keeping it in perspective for me? Mainly that MY personal year previous to it of

Good morning... looking ahead again.

This is a typical morning for me. Up early to help with breakfast for my parents and then pray for guidance and use my mind to think of how I want to use this day that I've been given. I really don't
